Raindrops froze instantly after they fell, covering everything in cold glass, the icy weight pulling everything down. It was a wonderful but a scary and weird sight at once - and not even my grandmother remembers seeing anything like this (in our country), no matter the many years she's lived.
Hard winters are coming.
Third of a 3-piece series. The first one - a non-macro view of the branches of a tree, covered in glassy ice - can be seen (if dA works) here: [link] . The second one, of leaves, is here: [link] .
Colours are slightly retouched.
Hope you like it.

The clarity, crispness and innocence captured in such simplicity presents the beautiful side of winter.

You chose to expose the one twig that managed to "free" itself. I should think this is a cheerful thing
I can't believe I missed it while browsing your gallery. Silly me
It's very beautiful!
thanks! yep i chose that twig and the surrounding ones because of the contrast - had i showed only ice-covered stuff, there would've been no firm ground for comparison...
as for missing a piece in a gallery, don't worry, most galleries have so many pieces in them that makes very easy to overlook a bunch...
first of all: thanks. as for the background: no, i didn't take them off (even though that would also have been an option ), the background shows a completely empty segment of a very light-gray sky whitened further by retouching. (i just had to find the right position to take the shot from.)
